In this unit, students will engage in a parallel study of a Holocaust novel, “Night” alongside historical study of the causes and major events in World War Two, and the experiences of victims of the Holocaust. Students will analyse symbols and character interactions in the novel, while linking ideas to events and experiences of historical figures and groups.
In the second part, students will engage with creative Aboriginal texts alongside an historical overview of Oodgeroo Noonuccal’s poetry and the Civil Rights Movement in Australia (1927-1967).
