Year 10 Science

SUBJECT OVERVIEW:  Year 10 Science explores the evolving nature of scientific understanding, emphasizing how models, theories, and technological advances shape discoveries. Students investigate genetics, evolution, and biodiversity, examining how DNA and natural selection explain life’s diversity. They study global systems, the carbon cycle, and Earth’s interactions, alongside the origins of the Universe through the Big Bang theory. Physics concepts such as motion, forces, and energy are applied to predict and explain phenomena. Through inquiry-based investigations, students develop hypotheses, conduct ethical and precise experiments, analyze data for patterns and trends, and evaluate the validity of their conclusions. Emphasis is placed on scientific communication, critical thinking, and addressing contemporary challenges.
