AM & PM COHORT

This assessment requires you to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to apply basic printmaking techniques to produce resolved printed outcomes. You will develop and produce prints based on simple, original design ideas, working in a safe studio environment and following established workshop procedures. The assessment measures your ability to consistently perform practical printmaking tasks that reflect industry-standard processes. This assessment will be completed over eight (8) weeks during scheduled class time. You are also expected to complete approximately one (1) hour of independent work per week outside of class to meet assessment requirements.

 

You are required to bring the following to every class:

·       A device with WIFI capability

·       Visual Diary

·       Materials kit including pens and pencils, scissors, glue and eraser

 

Job Brief

Throughout the unit, you will be guided step by step to create original prints from your own designs. The assessment brief is divided into four parts. You must complete all parts to be deemed competent.

KNOWLEDGE QUESTIONS

Attend a one-hour lecture on the fundamentals of printmaking and answer the questions in this booklet to show your knowledge about the following:

·       Section A: printmaking styles & practitioners

·       Section B: elements & principles of design as applied to printmaking work.

DRAWING DESIGN PROCESS

Use your visual diary to develop ideation sketches and final designs for screen-print and linocut and record peer and trainer feedback on the strengths and limitations of your ideas and drawing skills.

PRINTMAKING WORKSHOPS

Use a visual diary to record information using annotations, photographs, and sketches. You will document your creative process throughout this unit using:

·       Workshop records

·       Peer and trainer feedback

·       Reflection

TRAINER OBSERVATIONS

You will be observed by your trainer during class time to ensure you are able to perform a range of tasks as required, including:

 

·       Safe use of all tools and materials

·       Minimisation of waste and mess when using tools and materials

·       Ability to seek and consider feedback from trainer and peers regarding your own work.

·       Resolution of creative work
